Roach v. TRW

Gregory S. Schaer, a Monmouth County based New Jersey Employment Attorney located in Manalapan, represented the employee in a lawsuit against their employer alleging claims of retaliation.

A Monmouth County jury awarded $704,800 to a former employee of defense contractor TRW who filed a lawsuit alleging that he was wrongfully terminated for reporting illegal activities in the workplace.

Plaintiff, Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Frank Roach, alleged that while employed as a Manager for a subsidiary of TRW in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, he reported alleged illegal activities by a co-worker to several superiors and was thereafter subjected to retaliation. Several months after Roach made complaints through a Company hotline, he was terminated due to a purported business reorganization.

Following a nine (9) day trial, the Monmouth County jury unanimously found that Mr. Roach’s employer, TRW, had violated New Jersey’s Conscientious Employee Protection Act (“CEPA”) by retaliating against Roach for reporting the activities. The jury awarded Roach $287,100 in back pay, $342,700 in front pay and $75,000 for pain and suffering.
